2023/08/14

On August 9, 2023, the Chinese Embassy in Sweden and the Consulate-General in Gothenburg issued the new version of the "Instructions for Applying for a Visa to the People's Republic of China", with the main adjustments and related convenience measures as follows:

I. The following individuals can apply for multiple-entry visa:

1. Individuals who have visited China with M-Visa several times can apply for multiple entry M-visa valid for more than 12 months.

2. If documentation showing the relationship of spouses, parents, sons or daughters between the applicant and the inviting individual can be provided, (marriage certificate, birth certificate, proof of kinship issued by Public Security Stations or notarized certificates of kinship) , the applicant can apply for multiple-entry Q2 visa valid for more than 12 months.

3. Those who can provide the real estate ownership certificate under or with the applicant's name, or the house sales contract notarized by a domestic notary office in China,can apply for multiple-entry S2 visa valid for more than 12 months.

Please be noted that when applying for multiple-entry M and Q2 visas, basic materials such as invitation letters are still required. The validity plus the duration of stay of the Chinese visa issued by the embassy or consulate shall not exceed the validity period of the passport. Consular officials decide whether to issue a visa and the validity, duration of stay, number of entries of the visa based on the applicant's specific situation.

II. For documentation which is not specified in the "Instructions for Applying for a Visa to the People's Republic of China" as requiring the provision of original documents, fax copies, photocopies, or printed copies can be used.

Please be noted that consular officials may request applicants to provide original invitations or relevant materials. Falsification may result in the refusal or revocation of a visa, or denial of entry into China.

III. From August 10, 2023 to December 31, 2023, eligible applicants for business, tourism, family visit, transit, and crew visas for one or two entries will be exempt from fingerprint collection.

In addition, individuals under the age of 14 or over 70, those who have been issued a visa with the same passport within five years and have retained fingerprints, individuals with all ten fingers mutilated or all ten fingerprints uncollectable, will continue to be exempt from fingerprint collection.

Individuals who are exempt from fingerprint collection can entrust others to submit visa applications.

IV. To facilitate flexible arrangement of visa submission time for applicants, starting from August 10, 2023, application materials can be submitted to the nearby Stockholm or Gothenburg visa centers without the need for an appointment. If you have already made an appointment for the delivery time, there is no need to change or cancel it, choose a workday at your convenience for material submission.

The Chinese Embassy in Sweden and Consulate-General in Gothenburg kindly remind you that before submitting your application, please check the application materials according to the "Instructions for Applying for a Visa from the People's Republic of China". If you have any questions, please contact:
