On September 24, 2026, the Chinese Consulate General in Gothenburg hosted a reception celebrating the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Consul General Yang Peidong attended the reception and delivered remarks. Over 150 guests, including Mr. Mickael Appelkvist, Head of Protocol at the County Administrative Board of Västra Götaland, along with the local consular corps, friends from various sectors, and representatives of Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese, attended the event.

Consul General Yang reviewed the great achievements made over the 77 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 105 years since the founding of the Communist Party of China. He stated that China's four major global initiatives inject strong momentum into building a better world, and that China's high-quality development brings more opportunities to the globe. Noting that the economies of China and Sweden complement each other with vast potential for cooperation, he expressed the Consulate General's readiness to continue promoting economic, trade, and friendly exchanges, and to elevate bilateral relations to a new level.

The guests watched a themed video on China's achievements during the 14th Five-Year Plan era and the outlook for the 15th Five-Year Plan, enjoyed a photo exhibition of China's landscapes, and browsed through books including “Xi Jinping: The Governance of China.” They commended the friendly exchanges and fruitful cooperation between China and Sweden at the subnational level. The event was filled with a warm and friendly atmosphere.
