On September 16, 2026, the "2026 Chinese Film Week" (Gothenburg) screening event—co-hosted by the Chinese Consulate-General in Gothenburg, China Cultural Center in Stockholm, and the China Film Archive—kicked off at the Filmstaden Bergakungen in Gothenburg. Li Xiaoquan, Vice Consul General of the Chinese Consulate-General in Gothenburg, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Nearly 200 people, including overseas Chinese from the consular district, local and international students, and local residents, attended the inaugural screening.

Vice Consul General Li stated that an outstanding film tells a moving story while opening a window into the soul of a nation and its civilization. At the same time, for the overseas Chinese community, Chinese cinema serves as a vital bridge to express nostalgia and sustain cultural identity. Although China and Sweden have distinct historical backgrounds and traditions, our feelings toward family, friendship, dreams, and hard work are universal. He expressed his hope that the "Chinese Film Week" would make a unique bridge, fostering mutual understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and Sweden.
This event was supported by the China Film Administration. Spanning two days, the event featured screenings of four recent acclaimed domestic films, including Pegasus 3, Blades of the Guardians, The Lychee Road, and Nobody. The venue was packed to capacity, and the audience responded with immense enthusiasm.
