Xi Jinping Exchanges Messages of Congratulations with Slovenian President Borut Pahor on the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Slovenia Diplomatic Relations

On May 12, 2022, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Slovenian President Borut Pahor to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Xi Jinping pointed out, over the past 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Slovenia, the two sides have respected each other and treated each other as equals. The mutually beneficial cooperation has achieved positive results, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges have become increasingly active, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples. In the face of COVID-19 pandemic, people of the two countries have stood together and helped each other, demonstrating the profound friendship between China and Slovenia.

Xi Jinping stressed, I attach great importance to the development of China-Slovenia relations and stand ready to work with President Pahor to take the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties as a new starting point to seize the historic opportunity of Belt and Road cooperation, foster greater synergy between development strategies, deepen practical cooperation, and inject new impetus into the development of China-Slovenia relations for the benefit of the two countries and two peoples.

Pahor extended sincere congratulations on China's leapfrog development in many fields. He said, Slovenia-China relations boast a long history. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 30 years ago, bilateral relations have developed rapidly, economic and trade cooperation has been fruitful and the fields of cooperation have been expanding, with winter sports becoming a new highlight of cooperation. As a member of the EU, Slovenia actively supports the strengthening of EU-China relations, and is committed to bringing the fruits of cooperation to the two sides and the international community.
